Chasapara Barowari Jagaddhatri Puja Committee
The Jagaddhatri Puja at Chasapara Barowari has started in 1772 followed by its introduction at Rajbari of Krishnagar.The Goddess of Chasapara Barowari being the oldest one, is popularly known as "BURIMA".Over the years, the popularity of Burima has increased by leaps and bounds.The deity of Chasapara Barowari is embellished with gold ornaments of approximately 5220 gms and same amount of silver ornaments which have been collected from the offerings of the devotees over the years.The Goddess is ornamented on the previous night of the Puja.The Jagaddhatri Puja in Krishnagar takes place on the Sukla Nabami day of Bengali month Kartik and is celebrated on one day.
- On the day of Puja Polao Bhog is prepared with 40 quintal of Gobindo Bhog Atap rice which is served to at least 60 thousand devotees.
- Annomahotsab is organised for more than 40 thousand devotees.
- Thousands of devotees throng into the Mondop on the day of Puja to give offerings and anjali before the goddess.
Chasapara Barowari has already constructed "Burima Bhawan" for the purpose of the puja.The idols of Shri Ramkrishna, Shri Sarada Maa and Swami Vivekananda have been installed inside the "Burima Bhawan". Regular prayer and puja are conducted there.
